Phil Schumacher

Position: Owner & Contracting Plumber

Why am I passionate about my job? I love puzzles and figuring out plumbing issues. I also enjoy helping others in a bad/rough situation to bring a little light in a dark spot; that has always made me happy. Service plumbing allows for this on both fronts. Doing this work in my own business will enable me to help others in need while providing top-of-the-line plumbing services by being honest and straightforward with my principles intact.

Accomplishments in my career & hobbies, and personal interests? I graduated from college and trade school, am in the Indiana Football Hall of Fame, and play college football & basketball. Professionally, I started at the bottom as a labor worker in new construction plumbing, then transitioned into service plumbing and quickly rose the ranks. Then, I moved to an excavation team lead/operator, a plumber/technician, and a Subject Matter Expert (SME). Once I hit that, my family and I felt it was best for us to start our own company here at Prime Plumbing & Drains. My hobbies include watching & playing sports and spending time with my beautiful wife & two girls. I also enjoy watching superhero movies with my friend, and discovering new ways to better myself spiritually, mentally, and physically.

Why are you passionate about your job? I am passionate about helping others. I have always sought to serve the greater good in my work; whether it was as a CNA, a paralegal, or working at a Doctor’s office. Work adds meaning and purpose to life, and by helping others, we fulfill our driving need to contribute to society in a meaningful way, too.

Describe your accomplishments in your career: I have held many jobs over the years, allowing me to interact with people from all walks of life. I have always excelled at what I put my mind to, but the people that I have had the good fortune to meet along the way are my biggest accomplishments. I know I had big ones over the years, but those people are all that I remember and hold onto.

Hobbies & Personal Interest: I love HGTV! I love to travel and take cruises. I grew up in the country and have the requisite experience of catfishing, playing Euchre, and mushroom hunting. I am a first-generation American and the sister of an amphibious recon Marine. My favorite holiday is the Fourth of July. Fun Fact: I tried out for American Idol in 2003, reaching 11,000 to 160. I got beat by a guy in an Elvis costume. I never made it on TV. Elvis made it on TV…

Doing the work cleanly and courteously, as well as by the books, is the name of the game, and I intend never to lose. I played a lot of soccer and baseball through high school, which helped me learn how much teamwork plays in everyday life. A career as a chef for three years and 13 years in food service has taught me many lessons in customer service and life. I love building and working with my hands on my off times.

Why am I passionate about my job? I am passionate about my job because I really enjoy working hands-on and learning new things that have a huge impact on everybody in the world. I love helping people with their problems, and it makes me feel amazing leaving people in a position better than we found them.

Accomplishments in my career & hobbies, and personal interests? So far in my short career, I have begun my apprenticeship and have worked with around 100 customers. Being able to work with each of them has taught me at least one new thing every single time, and I have done my best to improve all of their situations, whether that is fixing their issues or sharing a little bit of my knowledge with them. My hobbies include going to the gym, playing soccer, hanging out with friends, and even just sitting and listening to music. I also love going backpacking with my dad and just camping; being in the woods is very calming, and you feel much better. Fun Fact: My favorite band is Metallica, and it’s the only concert I have ever been to.
